About Us

The Coalition of Refugee Leaders in Uganda (CRLU) is a national refugee-led platform that brings together leaders from diverse refugee communities to strengthen representation, coordination, and advocacy. The coalition serves as a unified voice for refugees, ensuring that their perspectives, needs, and solutions are recognized at community, national, and international levels. CRLU works across multiple sectors including leadership development, community coordination, women and youth empowerment, and peacebuilding, with the goal of creating inclusive, dignified, and sustainable opportunities for refugees and host communities.

Our Upper Leadership

CRLU is led by a committed group of refugee leaders drawn from different communities across Uganda. Together, they bring strong local knowledge, lived experience, and a shared vision for inclusive leadership and collective progress. The leadership team plays a key role in guiding the coalition’s direction, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that the voices of refugees are represented with clarity, dignity, and purpose.

Advocacy and Representation

We amplify the voices of refugee communities by ensuring their concerns, needs, and solutions are heard at local, national, and international levels. Through structured engagement with government institutions, partners, and stakeholders, we advocate for policies and decisions that promote dignity, protection, and equal opportunities for refugees and host communities.

We bring together leaders from different refugee communities to strengthen collaboration, information sharing, and collective action. By improving coordination, we ensure that efforts are aligned, resources are better utilized, and communities are more effectively supported in addressing shared challenges.

We invest in building strong, capable leaders within refugee communities. Through training, mentorship, and capacity-building initiatives, we equip leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to represent their communities, drive initiatives, and influence positive change.

Women Empowerment

We promote the inclusion, leadership, and protection of women within refugee communities. By supporting women’s participation in decision-making, providing platforms for their voices, and addressing challenges such as gender-based violence, we work towards a more equitable and inclusive society.

We engage young people as active contributors to their communities by creating opportunities for participation, learning, and leadership. Through youth-focused initiatives, we nurture talent, encourage innovation, and empower the next generation to take part in shaping their future.

We foster peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among refugee and host communities. Through dialogue, conflict resolution initiatives, and community-building activities, we work to strengthen trust, reduce tensions, and promote harmony across diverse groups.
